Purpose statement

In daily practice, Paraprofessionals work alongside teachers and administrators. Our Paras provide instruction to small groups in the areas of literacy and math. In addition, Paras assist with the supervision of students during emergency protocols, school events, lunch/recess and/or fieldwork as well as perform clerical duties.

Essential responsibilities

  • Ensures student safety in a variety of settings;
  • Administers student assessments;
  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning initially introduced by the classroom teacher;
  • Provides an inviting, active, inclusive, and joyful learning environment;
  • Participate wholeheartedly in professional development and team meetings/collaborations;
  • Assists students in mastering instructional materials assigned by the classroom teacher;
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the classroom teacher;
  • Obtains, gathers and organizes data to inform instruction;
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary

  • Salary is based on experience and higher than district salaries

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma OR equivalency.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to continuously adapt to an ever changing environment
  • Experience as a an instructional aide supporting a teacher or multiple teachers
  • Other relevant experience working with elementary aged students in a structured setting may be considered.
  • Associates degree OR a passing grade on the Work Keys test.
